What can I expect at my consultation?
You can plan on a 30 to 60 minute consultation consisting of an analysis and scalp evaluation with a trained hair loss specialist. In addition, you will receive a customized treatment plan based solely on your individual hair loss needs and personal expectations. If a hair transplant seems like a viable option, we will arrange a free consultation with our associates from Medical Hair Restoration.

Do you offer hair loss solutions for both men and women?
Yes! We pride ourselves on being able to offer both hair loss treatment and hair for men and women- all in a comfortable, private setting.

What are the reasons for female hair loss?
Heredity, hormones and age cause hair loss. A woman’s genetic makeup determines if hair follicles are sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) causing the follicles to shrink. This “shrinkage” results in overall thinning with time. In addition, the aging process can weaken the hair follicle and consequently the hair shaft. This causes permanent hair thinning and balding.

Get the facts on thinning hair and scalp health
Researchers have identified these 6 major causes of thinning hair:

  • Genetic Predisposition: A primary contributing factor to the appearance of thinning hair is the genetic pre-disposition of hormonal balances or imbalances which can be inherited from either your mother’s or your father’s side of the family. And yes, women can inherit the problem just like men!
  • Stress and Trauma: Stress causes poor vitamin and nutrient assimilation to the hair follicle and can produce increased levels of testosterone which converts to DHT.
  • Nutrition and Diet: Rapid weight loss, liquid protein diets, and high consumptions of foods that are over processed, low in nutrition and high in animal fats can negatively affect the body’s level of amino acids and vitamin assimilation.
  • Health: Malfunctions of the thyroid gland, which cause hyperthyriod and hypothyroid disease, is the only known health related cause of thinning hair.
  • Medications: Thinning can be a side effect to taking certain medications, specifically hormone replacement therapy drugs, birth control and estrogen pills, chemotherapy and thyroid disease treatments, blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and acne medications.
  • Environmental Toxins: Many experts contribute the mounting problem of environmental pollutants and estrogen mimics to be a cause of the increase in men and women battling thinning hair.
